What is NDIS Plan Management?

NDIS Plan Management covers the processes of organising the financial and administrative aspects of a participant’s NDIS plan, including paying supplier invoices, processing expense claims, creating financial statements and claiming funds from the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).


What are my options?

There are several options in place to manage your NDIS funding and you can choose the one that best suits your individual situation. They are:

  • Agency Managed – the NDIA will manage your plan for you. You are only able to access NDIS-registered providers with this option.
  • Plan Managed – you are funded by the NDIA to have a registered Plan Management provider. To be plan managed, you must request ‘Improved Life Choices in your NDIS plan at the time of your planning meeting or plan review.
  • Self-Managed – you are responsible for paying the invoices for the supports you receive through your NDIS Plan. You will then be reimbursed for these expenses, with the money deposited into your nominated NDIS bank account.
  • A combination of the above.


Why do participants choose NDIS Plan Management?

Each person’s situation is different and choosing how to manage your NDIS budget is an important and personal decision. With NDIS Plan Management you can retain choice and control without the hassle of managing the paperwork but it needs to be the right decision for you.


Being plan managed also relieves you of the provider restrictions that are imposed by being agency managed and offers more price flexibility, without the additional time commitment of paying bills that comes with self-management.
