There is no cost to you, the participant, if you would like your NDIS plan to be Plan Managed. It is an option available to you if you would prefer for a provider like InFocus to take care of the financial administration of your plan on your behalf. It’s a bit like getting an accountant to do your taxes.
In simple terms, all that you need to do to get a Plan Manager is ask your NDIS Planner or your Local Area Coordinator (LAC), however, the way that you ask will depend on your current situation. Here’s what this looks like.
It’s your first NDIS plan
If you are getting ready for your first NDIS plan, be sure to research and understand the different options available to you. There are four ways that you can choose to manage your NDIS Plan they are:
If you’re just starting off on your NDIS journey, it’s a good opportunity to learn about how a Plan Manager can help you. If you feel that it’s the right choice for you, at your planning meeting with your NDIA Planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) let them know that you would like to be Plan Managed so that they can include “Improved Life Choices” in your plan. This will cover the cost of a Plan Manager like InFocus to look after the financial administration of your plan.
You’re coming to the end of your plan period
If you are coming to the end of your current plan and you decide that you would like to be Plan Managed for your next plan, simply ask your planner or LAC to include “Improved Life Choices” in your plan.
You’re part way through a plan
If you are part way through your plan and you are either agency managed or self-managed and you find that this isn’t working out for you, contact your planner or LAC and request a “light-touch” review. A “light-touch” review is the informal name used to describe a plan review where you only want to make small adjustments to your NDIS plan, such as adding Plan Management. Its purpose is to avoid the long delays that participants can experience when requesting a full plan review and means that you can get a Plan Manager faster.
You already have a Plan Manager but you’d like to switch providers
If things aren’t working out with your current Plan Management provider, you can switch to a new provider. If you’d like to switch to InFocus Plan Management so that we can support you on your NDIS journey, follow these easy steps:
1 Let your current Plan Management provider know that you wish to end your service agreement
2 Call us on 1800 928 437, sign-up online or email us
3 We will set up your account
How your Plan Manager can help
When you are self-managed, you (or your nominated person) will be responsible for the financial administration of your plan including paying your providers, tracking your invoices, and budgeting. If this sounds like something you’d rather not do, then Plan Management could be a better option for you.
